CellBlock D is an amateur event series that has organized drifting events at the Agassiz Speedway since November of 2006 in Agassiz, BC, a township in the Fraser Valley about 1 hour from Vancouver, BC. As the sport originated in the mountain roads of Japan, our focus of the events are to keep Drifting off the public roads and under a controlled environment. It has since become a sport of grace and style as opposed to winning by being the fastest. Some have likened drifting to skateboarding or bmx freestyle, but with cars. Just like skateboarding skills are best learned at the skatepark, CellBlock D provides a safe track environment to practice and learn skills while having fun.
CellBlock D is a non profit event that is open to people of all driving skill levels. The diverse driver backgrounds help new drivers learn skills by association and encouragement from the more advanced drivers. This combined with a laid back fun atmosphere has made the CellBlock D events series a popular place to enjoy drifting action in the Greater Vancouver, B.C. area. The event series is continually looking for additional venues to bring the drifting closer to different crowds, but as the Vancouver area has a lack of race tracks, the venues are slim and far between. None the less, the events have run monthly with great turn outs from spectators and drivers of all ages.

CellBlock D Sexy Nights POSTPONED!
A lot has happened this week. After posting a message to let people know I was considering cancelling the CellBlock D drift series, a lot of people have volunteered their time and other resources to help keep the events running. That is great and makes me happy, but unfortunately I have to "Postpone" the event. I am not calling it quits on the Vancouver drift scene just yet. I have just not enough drivers, and now there is a 60% chance of rain. So instead of risking a bad event, I have put it off for this time.
I will be planning the next event soon as possible. The next event will have a driver cutoff date of 1 week before. All drivers must be willing to commit to driving as it is the only reason to hold events. Come on guys, plan to attend in advance, don't wait till the last second.
For all that have prepaid, you will be refunded. Please feel free to call me to discuss this.
CellBlock D Announcement. Please Read!!!!
I run the CellBlock D events in Agassiz, and have for over 1 year now, but the way it is looking, that may come to an end. Why?
Here are some reasons:
1) I work my ass off to arrange and event for the local area, and after all that work, I get 5 people signing up for events in advance, and more last second. The events cost ME money out of my pocket to run, so if no one shows, I lose. I don't have sponsors helping cover costs, which would be nice, but unless they approach me, it won't happen. I don't have the time or manpower to hit the pavement to do that.
2) I am trying to put on events to help the local scene, but when it comes to the scene helping at the events, its lacking. I have a few people that are friends of drivers, or a few regular drivers that help when they are not driving, but the majority do not even try and help. That makes my job even harder, and even more pointless. Why pointless? Well I don't make any money, get paid or anything to run the events. I do it for the local drifting community. I am a drifter, and I want track time. I felt that others would to, but I also hoped I would get more support.
3) People complaining about the venues we have. Well, the last time I checked, not a single person has contacted me saying that they have found a venue for us to drift at, all I would have to do it run the event and get insurance. People always ask me about new venues. If you knew how hard it was to get Agassiz on board, and how much work we have done, trying to convince other venues without any luck, they would think twice on asking. Like I said before, I do all this for free. Not only does that bother me, the issue with the venue, walls for example, is mute, I have been to MANY drift events, with walls and not, and no matter what, crashes happen. A wall may hurt your car, so do ditches, curbs, logs, plastic barriers and even cones. Drifting is a sport of pushing the limits of traction and control. How is the chance of hitting a wall any different then a light pole while in a parking lot. You just have to be aware of it and respect it.
4) Unlike some other areas, like the Seattle area track Evergreen Speedway, the track handles all the costs, and the volunteers just run the event, we have to do everything, from first aid, flagging, crowd control, paying for the track up front, buying supplies like cones, radios, flags, etc. and more. Then I have to make the event run smooth.
These are just some of the reasons that make me want to end the "events" as you know them.
SEXY NIGHTS!!!!
I have set a deadline of Wed April 30, at 12:00 Noon for signup of drivers, or that event will be cancelled, and CellBlock D will be over. We need on average 12 drivers to cover costs. We then need 5 full time volunteers to help run the event at all times. If there are not 12 drivers, the event is cancelled. As is CellBlock D.
It makes me sad, that I have to do this. I have no other choice.
